One of the most common questions we hear from new ocean freight customers is whether to book a full container (FCL) or share space with other shippers (LCL). The right choice depends on volume, budget, and how quickly you need the cargo to move.
When FCL makes sense
If your shipment fills more than roughly 60% of a standard container, FCL is usually more cost-effective per unit and avoids the extra handling that comes with consolidation.
When LCL makes sense
Smaller or irregular shipments often benefit from LCL, since you only pay for the space you use — though transit times can be slightly longer due to consolidation and deconsolidation at each end.
